After listening to this, I believe Orchestra Diversity is slowly progressing in the world of music. there seems to be a growth in the female gender. of Orchestra diversity. Hispanic representation in diversity is slower to progress. Comparisons were made between small and large orchestras.
The slowly changing diversity of symphony orchestra musicians presumably reflects some combination of two forces — (1) the hiring practices of orchestras and (2) the admissions practices of organizations that train individuals on instruments used in symphony orchestras. Screening practices influence hiring decisions. Admission and graduation data provide guidance on the supply (availability) of musicians by race, gender, and racial/ethnic background.
