I’m behind on my Daily Shows, so I just watched the one with Newsweek editor Jon Meacham this weekend. Jon Meacham, who was a trouper and did NOT cancel his appearance–which was most likely booked to promote is new PBS show Need To Know–on the day The Washington Post decided to sell his magazine. Sadly, they did not get to talk about the show, but I was really blown away by his interview:

“I do not believe that Newsweek is the only catcher in the rye between democracy and ignorance, but I think we’re one of them”? Seriously? I wish I could bust out sentences like that. I can’t even write sentences like that, let alone throw them out there in a studio-audience-interview situation. Too bad he didn’t actually get to answer why The Economist is doing so well. That I would like to know.
