The San Francisco Opera interviewed audience members at the intermission of Porgy and Bess on Tuesday. They plan to put the clips on their website.
And this has nothing to do with PR or marketing, but I liked that they had opera glasses for rent.
It would be funny if by “opera glass” they actually meant that glass sitting on the table there.
It would be very funny. But I lived in Cleveland for a bit, and you know, if Severance Hall had “rented” out drinking glasses I absolutely would have gone for it. Coming from a country where concert halls serve wine in glassware, it was a surprise to go to a gorgeous venue to hear a world-class orchestra and be served wine in a plastic cup.
