Charles Plymell Takes Stage for New and Selected Poems

Charles Plymell reading poems from Over the Stage of Kansas: New & Selected Poems 1966-2023, published by Bottle of Smoke Press, at the book launch in Hudson, NY, to celebrate his 89th birthday and sell some books. 
Plymell has as much in depth to say about death as Hemingway did and a lot more to say about it in terms of the present generation stillborn into a world that can offer nothing.

Plymell began the reading with a poem about Lawrence Ferlinghetti, to whom the book is dedicated. Here’s the poem, “Jam the Throttle Skipper Larry,” which Plymell recorded on a separate occasion.

        as to being a legend well, with all respect, I don’t think anyone —not even Charley —wants to be a legend until after actual departure.
