I had the great privilege of presenting Annie Fischer in recital in Vancouver in the early 80’s. Everything she played sounded fresh and new. And yes, that cigarette was never far away.
Between encores she went backstage for a puff! Schubert, Mozart and Beethoven never sounded better.
