The last time I heard excerpts of “Stranger Love,” it was in Brooklyn and the score-cum-libretto had yet to receive a full production. Now this six-hour opera is to be staged from beginning to end at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The NY Times reports that this “singular, tender, euphoric, hypnotic opera” is to have a once-only performance at the “home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which has embraced ‘Stranger Love’ as one of its trademark pie-in-the-sky presentations.”
Postscript: May 23 — The New York Times review of the performance is in: ‘Stranger Love’ Reflects the L.A. Philharmonic at Its Finest.
