For any folks who have nothing to do and no money to do it on: There’s a free
prepostclassical concert Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Alice Tully Hall (Broadway at 66th St.) in
Manhattan. We have it on good authority that several postgrad Juilliard conductors are to take
turns leading the Juilliard Conductors’ Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture,
Rossini’s Overture to Italiana in Algeri, Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, and
Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet.
