Now, see, in this example, the singing totally doesn’t seem like the silly, far-fetched part! It works in the trailer. In full-length, apparently not so much. Sad! Anyone have a report?
So, um, what 21st-century opera needed to seem less ridiculous was an ice pick! I’ll leave that to the sociologists. Do wonder though: What would Ron Rosenbaum say?
Looked awesome until “Rock Opera” hit the screen. I think that word carries too much baggage for a film like this one to use. Still, if Skinny Puppy plays much of the soundtrack, it could be pretty sweet. They have an excellent album (The Greater Wrong of Right) from 2004 that combines metal and elecronica.
I’d give them mad points for their combination of futurism/subject matter and the goth/metal element they’ve got going on, but looks like the collective production wasn’t so hot.
