For too many years the non-profit arts have related to government as a source
of money and aggravation. The founding days of the NEA are gone
forever and the glory years of state arts agencies doling out cash are
behind us, so let’s not settle for aggravation.
We can use our creativity to define a new relationship between art and government or we can have one forced on us. To take the lead on this we have to seek new partners inside and outside of government to carry our banner, cooperate to achieve the widest possible impact, and learn to adapt to the ever-shifting political landscape.
This blog is about doing the work together to make a place for the arts in all government policy. Without the work we’ll just have our complaints.
