We all know that successful people and successful organizations are fueled by their networks. The people and organizations they are connected with, and the way those connections intertwine are often a mystery, or the stuff of formerly-smoky back rooms (thanks to state smoking bans). The NNDB Mapper tries to remove the mystery and replace it with a map.
Built on the Notable Names Database (NNDB), a directory of biographical details for more than 34,000 people of public interest, the NNDB Mapper connects the dots between those biographical details — board membership, family ties, current and past work history, known associations, and the like.
The result is pretty cool, allowing you to build a map of connections from any individual point you like — a person, a band, a company — which begins to show you the webs of influence and information that flow therefrom. Great fun at parties. And if you are or would like to be associated with one of the 34,000, great fun as research.
