I’m on my way to New York today to attend the annual Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference — some 4000 venue managers, agents, artists, and supporting organizations booking their seasons and connecting with their peers. If you’re wandering around the Hilton New York, give me a wave.
I’ll be participating in three panel discussions during the event — two on the state and potential of professional development in the performing arts, one on marketing yourself during tough economic times. And one of those sessions will be presented by a team of my current MBA students (Saturday morning, 9:30 am, Concourse A, if you must know).
Here’s hoping there’s good news and innovative ideas lurking among the wreckage of the current economy, and the prospects for performing arts in 2009.
