As I've mentioned, we've had choreographer and creative muse Elizabeth Streb in Madison for the past several days, for a series of public and university discussions about her work and its implications for creative entrepreneurs. I've long admired her ability to bring reflection, creative thought, and artistic intent to every aspect of her work -- from her choreography to her business to her company's goals and processes. Her visit has offered great opportunities to dig into those ideas with multiple audiences.
Since 2003, she's been applying that focus and intent to her new performance home, the Streb Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM) in Brooklyn, which has become a creative canvas for her and her peers to rethink how and where artists and audiences come together, and how they behave with each other once they're there.
I recorded a 20-minute conversation with Elizabeth yesterday for our course podcast (link will open iTunes), and have posted it here as well. Give a listen to hear how she's thinking and acting differently about professional performing arts facilities.
