We all know the Maximum Leader and his Crony in Chief will sing a private duet for the 9/11
commission. But in case we forgot, Hendrik Hertzberg reminds us in today’s New Yorker
of two unpublicized conditions set by the White House: “There will be no official electronic
recording” of their testimony “and there will be no transcript.” Question: Do you
suppose that’s because the White House believes in transparency, open government and telling the
truth, or because the pair might sing off-key? Answer: Eleanor Clift’s terrific piece in
Newsweek about “the Wizard of Oz” letter, which “strips away
the myth that Bush is in charge.”
